For this work, a single room from an abandoned house was carefully dismantled and reconstructed in a new location using the original materials.
The exhibition site in Atami was originally developed as a villa estate, where several houses remain scattered across the landscape. One of these buildings had begun to decay as rainwater entered through its damaged roof. There was little evidence that it had ever been inhabited; it seemed as though, once built, it had simply been left to await its own deterioration.
Before the exhibition, however, the abandoned house was scheduled for demolition for ritualistic reasons. In the end, various circumstances prevented the demolition, and the building remains standing today—continuing to decay, unused.
From inside the reconstructed room, visitors can look back toward its original site: the abandoned house from which it was taken.
I am interested in considering where this place has come from, and where it is going, as its fate is repeatedly redirected through human decisions and interventions.

作品として廃墟となった家屋の一室を解体し、同じ部材を使い新たな場所へと移設した。 熱海にある展示会場となった敷地は元は別荘として作られ、家屋が点在している。その内の１棟は屋根からの雨漏りにより朽ち初めていた。使われた形跡はあまり無く、建てられた後にただ朽ちるのを待っているかのようだった。 そんな展示場所としての廃屋だったが、呪術的な理由から展覧会開催前に取り壊しの計画が立ってしまった。結局、様々な点が障害となり取り壊しは無くなり、現在も使われることの無い廃屋は朽ち続けている。 作品となった部屋の内部からは元あった場所つまり廃屋を臨むことが出来る。 人の関わりの中で右往左往するこの場所が何処から来て、何処へ行くのかを考えてみたい。
