日和山の階段を新しい視点まで延長してみる ／ Extended the Stairs of Mt.Hiyoriyama to a New Point of View

As an artistic endeavor, I attempted to extend the staircase of Mt.Hiyoriyama, creating a new perspective. Mt.Hiyoriyama is a mountain scattered throughout the country, and one of them is in my hometown, Ishinomaki City in Miyagi Prefecture. Originally used by sailors and fishermen as a place to observe the weather , it gained its name from this purpose. In Ishinomaki, the name is beloved by the citizens and exists as a famous spot in the city, also serving as an evacuation site.

When it was 3.11, many people climbed Mt.Hiyoriyama to escape the tsunami and survived. I am one of those individuals. The large staircase leading towards the sea played a crucial role in guiding numerous people to safety. Now, in 2021, the city viewed from the mountaintop is a construction site in the midst of reconstruction after the disaster. The previously residential areas were all swept away, and a new park is under construction. A massive seawall stands between the visible sea and land, and the scenery continues to evolve.

Since the Industrial Revolution, with the progress of science and technology, convenience has improved, and the city is undergoing changes. To look at the landscape that many have seen before from a slightly higher perspective and contemplate the present from a new point of view—an action that will likely contribute to creating a new step on the staircase for the next generation.

作品として日和山の階段を延長し、 新しい視点を作る試みをした。 日和山とは 全国にいくつか点在する山であり、 そのうちの一つが私の出身地、 宮城県石巻市にもある。 本来は船乗りや漁師が天気（日和）を見る場所として使うことからその名前が付けられた。石巻でもその名前は市民から親しまれており街の名所として存在し、避難場所としての役割を持っている。 2011 年3 月11 日に起きた東日本大震災では多くの人が津波を逃れるために日和山へと登り生還した。 私もその1 人である。海の方角へと続く大きな階段は沢山の人を生還へと導いた。 そして現在（2021年）、 その山頂から見下ろす街は震災からの復興真最中の工事現場である。 それまで住宅街だった場所は全て流され、 新たに公園を建設している。 また見渡せる海と陸の間には大きな防潮堤が立ち、 見える風景は変化し続けている。 産業革命以来、科学技術の進歩と共に利便性は向上し、街は変化していく 。
これまで多くの人が見ていた風景を少し高い視点から臨み、 新たな視点から現在を俯敵して考えてみる。その行動は次の世代へと伸びる階段の新たな一段を作るものになるだろう。
